Beyond the Veil (poem)

is there anything

beyond the darkness

can i pierce its veil

is there light

on the other side

or will i simply

continue to fall

without feeling

to know

without seeing

to exist

without living

or will my existence

just cease to be

like that of an ant

crushed underfoot

i can only know

that one day

i must give up

and let go

from the ceiling

that is earth

and fall into

the black void

of the abyss

accepting that

if there was a time

when i was not

a time will come

when i will not be
